Harald Andrés Helfgott (born November 25, 1977) is a Peruvian mathematician born in Lima.[1] His main area of research in number theory and related topics. Helfgott is currently a researcher (CR1) at the CNRS/École Normale Supérieure, Paris.[3]
In 2008, Helfgott was awarded the Leverhulme Mathematics Prize for his work on number theory, diophantine geometry and group theory.[4][5]
In June 2010, Helfgott was awarded the Whitehead Prize by the London Mathematical Society for his varied contributions to number theory, including work on Möbius sums in two variables, integral points on elliptic curves, and in particular for his groundbreaking work on growth and expansion of multiplication of sets in SL2(Fp).[6]
In February 2011, Helfgott was awarded the Adams Prize jointly with Tom Sanders.[7]
